MIFARE Plus

New standards for security and data protection

Since its launch in 2009, MIFARE Plus has been setting new standards for security and data protection in contactless smartcards, making it suitable for public transport, toll system or loyalty scheme applications that require a particular level of protection. This is ensured by measures such as the 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

Customers who are currently using MIFARE Classic can migrate to MIFARE Plus without any difficulty. If system integrators and users have particularly high security requirements, the contactless microcontroller IC gives them the option to integrate additional security features. In this way, automatic fare collection, access management, and micropayment systems can be customized to individual requirements. In addition, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has awarded EAL 4+ certification to MIFARE Plus.
